The Brydone monument is located in Totara. It is about 5 minutes south of Oamaru. The monument is on the left hand side of the road going south which is towards Dunedin. The Brydone monument is on the top of Sebastopol hill. The monument is made out of Oamaru stone. The Brydone monument has a flag on top of it. The flag sways in the wind. The Brydone monument represents Thomas Brydone and also the first shipment of frozen meat brought to Totara. Thomas Brydone was the boss of the land company for Australia and New Zealand.Almost everyone knew about the Brydone monument. They put it in lots of newspapers. The newspapers said that it was put up on Sebastopol hill in 1907. I hope you can visit the Brydone monument sometime
