This is a water hydrant to provide water for the gun.
- The gear mechanism on the drum, reels in the gun cart as the sprinkler operates.
- Guns are the best type of irrigation for cropping.
- The hard hose is a black polyethylene high pressure hose that will last for years.
- Travelling guns can irrigate for eight to twelve hours per day.
- Some guns have an air pump attached to the drum frame. When the gun cart has wound into the drum you can turn on the air pump, which will pump out the water to make the gun lighter to tow (because sometimes it weighs up to five tonne and is very hard to pull with your tractor).
- There is also a soft hose gun. The difference between the two is that the soft hose rolls flat out on the ground and is soft and squishy and the hard hose is hard and keeps in shape.
