Our team
Hi everyone I am Harsh Shah.I was the main organiser of this Living Heritage Project at Marcellin College.I asked other Indian students at our school to contribute their stories.
My nickname is Lambo, the same as Ishant Sharma’s. I am the opening bowler in the Marcellin College 1st XI cricket team. My favourite cricket player is the great Sachin Tendulkar.I also play for the Marcellin College 2nd XI soccer team.
I was born in India but shifted to NZ when I was 7. In the 7 years that I have been in NZ I have only been to India once. Even though I was so young when we shifted I am still fluent in my mother tongue Gujurati and in Hindi.
I also remember all the festivals in India and the reason for them. I think that it is important for Indians to tell others about their festivals so people who are not Indians can learn about the many different cultures in India .
I also think it is important for us to continue celebrating our Indian Festivals in New Zealand so we won’t lose our own cultural identity.
For example if my family had not continued celebrating all the Indian festivals in NZ then I might not have known much about this.
India is my Living Heritage and this is the reason that I am sharing it with you. I hope you enjoy learning about my culture.
