St James Anglican Church
St James Anglican Church was built in 1872. The total cost, including furnishings, was $880.20. The present generation of worshippers celebrated St James' 130th birthday on November 15th 2002. The plaque on the stone wall beside the main entrance was unveiled 10 years earlier by the Bishop of Dunedin, the Rt Rev'd Dr Penelope Jamieson.
The life of the church includes worship on Sundays and on special days such as Good Friday and Christmas. There are also baptisms, weddings and funerals. There is a very active women's guild. The ministry involves a team of local people supported by a priest-enabler based in Alexandra. The church hall is made available to community groups.
