World War Two at our School
Pictures from Auckland areas

This is a picture of the army base at Rangitoto Island. It is not there anymore. We are going on a class trip to Rangitoto Island this year and we will look for any things left over from the army. Thanks to the Devonport Naval Museum for letting us publish this photo.

Mr Ted Davis (third from left) with fellow 18 year olds at the Papakura training camp with a 40mm Bofor Gun. Many men were involved in military training well after the war. Picture taken in 1951.

There was rationing for civilians. We were only allowed a little butter each week and no cream unless you had a cow. It was hard to get many ordinary things because it was all being sent overseas to the soldiers.
