Karitane General Store

When I was researching Karitane store I found it very hard to find any information on the internet or at the local library. I decided to turn to people for help. My teacher and I thought it would be a good idea to interview Sue O'Neill - the owner of the shop.

She had recently had a visit from a man who had owned the shop in the 1950s. He said they used to sell fresh fish out the back. They would string the crayfish up on the washing line and slit their tails. A neighbourhood cat would come and sit under the washing line, mouth open, to catch the drips. They stored cheeses on tall shelves out back and every two hours he would have to climb the shelves and turn the cheeses around.

Karitane store covers for the post office as well and is a central part of our seaside community.
