Our environment

Environment

Although we are surrounded by geothermal fields, the village and school land area is relatively free of thermal activity. We understand the site was chosen to reduce safety risks with the then large youth numbers (vicinity of 420) attending our school.
Taupo’s soil is pumice. Pumice does not hold moisture, handy during heavy rainy periods, however a big disadvantage for growing and pumice is extremely poor nutrient wise.

Water

Water, and especially good quality supplies around the world, are rapidly diminishing. Through careless thought and lack of respect for the value of water, we are causing pollution on many levels and destroying the quality.
The resulting ocean rubbish dumps and their wide spreading effects on human, animal, bird and sea life have life-long consequences.
Global temperature, issues and the effects they all play on our environment are always a consideration in our planning and the implementation of new projects at our school.
